A Message From our Principal, Mrs. Yanta

Howdy, Longhorn Family!

This week, we proudly celebrated the official recognition of George Ranch High School as an “A”-rated campus by the Texas Education Agency! Congratulations, Longhorn Nation! This incredible achievement reflects the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our students, staff, and families—and marks the second consecutive year our school has earned an A rating. Now, let’s keep the momentum going and make it a three-peat!

How Does a Texas High School Earn an “A” Rating?
The Texas Education Agency evaluates schools through its A–F accountability system, and an A rating reflects strong performance in three key areas: Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gaps.
For a high school, this means students are achieving at high levels on STAAR End-of-Course exams, making academic progress, graduating, and demonstrating readiness for college, careers, or the military. It also reflects our commitment to ensuring that every student—not just some—has the opportunity to succeed.

An A rating is not the result of one person or one group. It takes all of us. It represents the collective efforts of our students, teachers, staff, families, and community working together to help every Longhorn learn, grow, graduate, and be prepared for what comes next.

I am incredibly proud of Longhorn Nation and grateful for everyone who plays a role in our success. This recognition is a celebration of what we have accomplished together—and a reminder that there is still more greatness ahead.

One Herd One Hearbeat. 1% better every day. Let’s make it three in a row!

Student Schedules - Level Drop Information

If a student needs a level change (example: going from a PAP or AP course to an academic course), then they will request a level change form from their teacher. All level change forms are due to the counseling suite room 2327 by Friday, August 28th at 12:30 PM (this is a half day for students). Please note the form requires several signatures (parent, student, and teacher) so please plan accordingly. Students can stop by room 2327 or contact their counselor if they have questions. Teachers will have the level drop forms available by Monday, August 24th.

Please see below for LCISD guidelines regarding level changes.
Course Level Changes: To be considered for a level change from a PAP, AP, or Dual Credit course, the student must have made a sincere effort to succeed by attending tutorials, completing his/her work, completed available reassessment, conferenced with his/her teacher, and recognized that Dual/AP courses have a 1.3 multiplier, PAP courses have a 1.2 multiplier, and academic courses have a 1.1 multiplier.

A parent conference with the teacher is recommended before a level change.

Course level changes will be considered at the end of the 3rd week (PR1), at the end of the 1st six weeks (SW1), and at the end of the 1st semester with a completed campus drop form. Level changes for semester-only courses will be considered at the end of the 3rd week (PR1 or PR4) and at the end of the 1st six weeks (SW1 or SW4).

Important deadlines for 2026-2027:
·    For all forms submitted between August 3 to August 21, bus transportation will begin August 24.
